Equimuse looks to the guiding spirit of the centaur, Chiron, part human, part horse, teacher and healer.  Chiron is the mentor of Apollo, Greek god of health, strong bodies, and music -- also of Aesclepius, patron divinity of medicine.
An innovative, one-on-one approach to equine-assisted therapy, Equimuse, combines the principles of hippotherapy with the underlying tenets of music therapy.
Sing, riding's a joy! For me I ride.

Equimuse Program Goals
Equimuse applies the principles of music therapy combined with those of equine-assisted therapy to provide an innovative, holistic approach to healing.

Music from the baroque and classical eras,  percussive patterns, jazz, and contemporary compositions will be used to entrain neurolgical pathways in ways that will enhance the therapeutic inflence of movement on the horse.
Private session Program Outline

Each session will last aproximately 1 hour, depending on participant tolerance and therapist's discretion.

Sessions will include a pre-ride, "barn-time" component, followed by a mounted segment. Riders will return to the therapy room at the end for follow-up and/or family instruction.

Participants will be exposed to a variety of musical instruments, and musical compositions will be chosen for movement routines fitted to each client's need. A member of the Equimuse Equine Team will be chosen to suit the individual.

Vaulting routine movements are modified to suit individual rider's abilities. Specific routines are set to music and worked on over the course of a specified length of treatment. Performance of achieved levels of vaulting movement routines will be performed, at the client/parent's request and permission, at the end of the session.

A CD will be provided at the end of the session with corresponding routine, so that further effort may be reinforced at home.
